Our ethos is simple: to pay respect to the ingredient and let its flavour speak for itself. Influenced by the lifestyle of the Mediterranean, our signature style is unfussy, convivial and inclusive, ensuring that all dietary needs are catered for.

Whether your gathering is large or small, work based or celebratory we have the expertise to elevate your occasion. From bountiful banquets and feasts, canapés and bowl food to street food, salads and sandwiches, we can create a menu to suit your requirements.

We are led by our staunch commitment to sustainability, seasonality and locality wherever possible, using the best quality of ingredients we can find. We pay all our staff at least the London Living Wage and support fellow small businesses and independent creatives whenever possible too.

Meet the Team

Matt Klose & Sam Soan

South East London born and raised, Matt (pictured right) and Sam (pictured left) are lifelong friends who both first found their love for food while working together as teenagers at the renowned Handmade Food of Blackheath Village.
From there Sam went on to immerse himself in the vibrant London food scene chefing at the likes of Moro and The Canton Arms, which eventually saw him head chef at Camberwell Arms and Franks Cafe. While Matt, before embarking upon his own solo catering company - Grub London, pursued an international music career, reserving his fantastic palette and cooking skills for friends and family as a method of relaxation after hectic tours.
Both enthralled by their jobs, but less so by the lifestyles and pressures that accompanied them, eventually the antisocial hours took their toll. So in 2017, like an empowering feel good summer blockbuster hit, they both said no more, hung up their respective clobber and united to form Klose & Soan - a catering service with creativity and kindness at its core.

Since, they have worked methodically, taking each day as it comes to carve out a business that not only provides authentic service and product for their clients but that also works for them, and above all looks after their staff while supporting like minded producers and suppliers.

Chefs

Our chef team is rich and diverse, from those who have professionally trained at the likes of Jamie Oliver’s Fifteen, to others who are self taught committed home cooks. We don’t believe in paper qualifications to determine expertise at Klose & Soan, but instead look for life experience and passion, as it is, in our eyes, these qualities that determine an exciting and supportive working kitchen that result in great tasting food which is made keenly with love.

Front of House

Following our own many years of restaurant experience, both as employees and customers, we understand the importance of a strong Front of House, and how challenging a profession it can be. Adept, warm and inviting, they are the vital point of contact between your guests and our food, and with out these highly skilled professionals Klose & Soan would be at a loss.
It is our core team that ensure that each of your guests are without want. From dietaries to seating, their adaptability and observational skills are incredible.
Always one or sometimes even two or more steps ahead, it is our indispensable Front of House team that guarantee a smooth stress free event for both us as caterers and you as host.
